ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: In this era of mass incarceration Coach Smedley has both personal and professional expertise. Her father entered prison when she was 10-years-old and walked out when she was 25. Six of her 7 uncles were incarcerated in jails and prisons in Ohio. Coach Smedley’s family has served a combined 75 years behind bars. Despite such negative circumstances Coach Smedley managed to grow up and thrive. In her book “Embracing Your Story: How to Build a Great Life Out of Hardship” she shares her uplifting story. She has worked in the field reentry for the past 20 years in multiple settings including community and facility-based programs. Her unique perspective allows her to provide practical training for practitioners engaged in the challenging work of reentry.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Raised by a single mother, BJ has made it through some of the toughest times. He was expelled from two jurisdictions in his junior year of high school. He lost his scholarships to college. Once in the military, trouble found him again where he was in a jail cell. That is where he began to plan for success. Upon being released, BJ found it hard to find a career. He worked in just about every career field that you can think of – sales, hospitality, utilities, education, mechanic and more. One day he found himself in an interview where he was asked about workforce development. With a natural way of finding jobs for himself, he found a new career; helping others find their career. This is where everything shifted. BJ helped just over 3,000 people find a career home. BJ’s natural space of help is in the educational system, where he engages with both teachers and students to find a way to be great together.
Individual Access to training sessions by an approved registrant qualifies as used and therefore the license and registration is retired and non-transferable.
Individual registration, enrollment and access to training sessions become final 30 days after enrollment date.
Unused registrations canceled before 30 days, in writing, and not transferred will be issued a credit to be used for future training.
